Dieting is suitable for older children once they are a little above the growing age. For instance, kids who are either seventeen or eighteen are turning into adults, it is fine for them to diet. By this time, if they haven’t lost their baby fat, that means they are turning towards the obese side and that can be pretty bad for their health in the future. Adults
Of course, adults can diet whenever they want. The doctor should decide whether or not old people should diet. Sometimes they are facing health problems unlike any other and it would be unsuitable for them to try and lose weight. But perhaps at times their health problems are there because of their weight and a doctor can plan a diet which would be effective but not at the cost of their health. Thus, with old people, one has to be a bit careful.

You should know whether or not you need to diet or not. A lot of people have the psychological thinking that they are overweight when in fact they are at the ideal weight. It happens a lot of times. People keep telling them that they do not need to diet but they do not listen. It can actually affect their social skills as well as their growth. They need to be helped and explained to that dieting is not the answer. However, at times the opposite happens. A person needs to diet but think that they are alright. Just keep one thing in mind throughout all of this; your growth should not be affected. Do not make a small kid diet when it is his age to eat and play. The baby fat will come off itself with time. But if the kid grows into an adult teen and still hasn’t lost the weight he was supposed to, only then can you think about it.
